Maribel Gomez, Esq.

Maribel Gomez is a litigation attorney at the Law Offices of Grey & Grey, LLP, handling various Plaintiff's personal injury matters.

Her life story is a testament to the power of resilience and determination. Born to Puerto Rican parents and raised by a Dominican stepfather, she learned early on that hard work and pure determination pave the path to success. Her core values, deeply rooted in family, faith, and helping others, have guided her every step of the way. Growing up in Queens, New York, Maribel's life experiences were the cornerstone of her unstoppable tenacity. Her blue-collar family instilled in her a deep appreciation for the struggles of underserved communities, and she has made it her life mission to elevate and serve those in need.

Maribel has been a member of the Long Island Hispanic Bar Association since 2019, first serving as a Board Member, Gala Committee Chair, Community Outreach Chair, Treasurer, and President-Elect. True to her dedication to the community, she has organized prom dress drives, food drives, and other outreach programs. Also, during her time with the Long Island Hispanic Bar Association, she coordinated resources for other Hispanic organizations across Long Island and has advocated for the Hispanic Community at every level of government.

She is also a Suffolk County Bar Association member and actively participates in their Membership Services Committee.  In acknowledgment of her leadership and years of dedication to the Hispanic community, she has been asked to be the Keynote speaker at the 2024 Hispanic Heritage Celebration for the Suffolk County Courts.

Maribel’s goal is to inspire and empower the younger generation of Hispanic pioneers. She aims to achieve this through the Long Island Hispanic Bar Association by expanding scholarship and educational opportunities. This will give these young adults the confidence and self-assurance necessary to effect positive change in their communities. Her vision for the future is one of hope and optimism, where the next generation is equipped to lead and advance the Hispanic community.

Maribel's educational journey is a testament to her academic achievements and her ability to balance multiple responsibilities. She graduated from St. John's University in 1996 with a bachelor's degree in criminal justice.  Following college, she spent the next 18 years working as a Plaintiff's Personal Injury litigation paralegal while starting her family and sharpening her expertise in the field of personal injury. In 2014, with the support of her family, she decided to pursue her lifelong dream and enrolled in the Touro College Jacob D. Fuchsberg Law Center's four-year evening program.  Despite balancing full-time employment and family life, she successfully completed her J.D. in 2017, graduating an entire semester ahead of schedule.

Her hard work, dedication, and leadership have already earned her several awards and recognitions, including for her work with the Nassau County District Attorney’s Youth Court program in Hempstead. She was also the proud recipient of the Excellence in Trial Advocacy Award.

She is admitted to practice in the State of New York, the US District Court for the Eastern District of New York, and the U.S. Supreme Court.
